  • Firstly, Songchild is a MediaWiki project and all text edits need to be done in wiki code, not WYSIWYG. You can find a quick guide here: Wiki Cheat Sheet.
  • Please note that Songchild simultaneously functions in multiple languages. When entering any text, identify your language by choosing it from the language tag drop box on the editing screen.

  • If you wish to view and download songs, please visit the Music Library
  • If you wish to translate a song's lyrics into another language, you may write those lyrics in the designated text box while uploading the song, or write those lyrics on the page of an existing song.
    • Find the song in the Music Library
    • Click on that song file
    • Enter the lyrics in any language you wish, under the lyrics heading. Please attempt to be as accurate as possible and make sure to add a language tag to your lyrics by choosing it from the language tag drop box on all editing screens.
    • Here is an example: File:Vuk i Ovca.wav
  • If you need help creating your own songs, we recommend two pieces of software we found to be quite useful. For the Mac OSX, Garageband is a music creation and editing software that comes with the operating system. For PC, there are many great music programs to purchase but there is also a free music editing software called Audacity that can be downloaded here.
    • Songchild has created short and comprehensive instruction pages to help you use Garageband and Audacity
  • Another method of getting your music on this website is through using Youtube. Simply record your song on video, post it on Youtube, and then use mediaconverter.org to convert your Video file to mp3 format. After that, upload your song to Songchild.
  • If you wish to write chords and/or tabs to a song, please do so in the designated text box on the upload screen or under the chords and tabs heading on the page of an existing song. For a guide to entering chords and tabs on a wiki, and for information concerning tablature, please visit Wikipedia's "Tablature" page.

  • If you have any questions, please visit the F.A.Q. section of the HELP page.
